Larry is a lively, intelligent one-year-old collie with a glossy coat and a bright, alert expression. He is energetic, playful and keen to learn. He thrives on activity and mental stimulation: long walks, running, herding-style games, agility, scent work and training sessions are all things he enjoys and responds to well.

Temperament:

• Affectionate and people-focused; enjoys company and does best when included in daily family life.

• Highly trainable and quick to pick up commands, though he needs consistent, patient handling to channel his energy positively.

• Not suited to being left alone for long periods; can become bored and bored-related behaviours may develop without adequate stimulation.

Ideal home:

• An active household or a rural home with space to run and explore.

• Owners with experience of energetic breeds, or those willing to commit to regular training and exercise routines.

• Access to secure outdoor space for off-lead exercise is strongly preferred.

• Not recommended for apartment living or sedentary owners.

Requirements:

• Daily long walks or runs (at least twice daily), plus additional play or training sessions.

• Mental enrichment: puzzle toys, training, agility or scent work to prevent boredom.

• Consistent, positive reinforcement training; early socialisation with people and other animals where appropriate.

• A patient owner who understands collie instincts and can provide leadership and structure.
